SayPro CEO Neftaly Malatjie Calls for Purposeful Living and Divine Alignment at Capacity Building Training for NPOs

Southern Africa Youth Project Headquarters, 24–26 June 2025

At the close of an intense and empowering three-day event, SayPro CEO and leader of Development, Neftaly Malatjie, delivered a striking message that resonated deeply with the participants of the SayPro Capacity Building Training for NPOs Programme, held from 24 to 26 June 2025 at the Southern Africa Youth Project headquarters in Johannesburg.

In his closing remarks, Malatjie challenged nonprofit leaders to reflect on the company they keep and the purpose that drives them:

“When you get out of this door, dump all your friends—and now, God is your friend.”

This powerful statement was not a dismissal of human relationships, but rather a call for participants to re-evaluate the influences in their lives and embrace a higher purpose. Malatjie urged leaders to leave behind distractions, toxic environments, and unproductive habits in exchange for a focused, faith-led journey rooted in integrity, service, and accountability.

He continued, “The work you do in development is sacred. It requires clarity, discipline, and divine guidance. Surround yourself with people and values that elevate your mission, not weaken it.”

The SayPro Capacity Building Training provided extensive learning for nonprofit professionals in:

  • Strategic leadership and governance
  • Organizational ethics and accountability
  • Faith and values in community service
  • Project planning and resource management
  • Personal development for sustainable leadership

Malatjie’s statement marked a deeply personal and spiritual turning point for many attendees, as it reminded them that leadership in the nonprofit sector is more than operational—it is moral, spiritual, and mission-driven.

One attendee shared, “That message changed me. I walked in as a manager and walked out as a servant-leader. I now know who and what I must align with to lead with purpose.”

The SayPro Capacity Building Programme remains a transformative space where NPOs are not only trained but inspired to lead with conviction and vision—creating meaningful change in their communities and within themselves.
