“I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – John 10:10

1. Introduction

CKG acknowledges the serious impact of HIV and AIDS on individuals, families, and communities — particularly in vulnerable populations. As a faith-based, community-serving organization, CKG commits to creating a non-discriminatory, supportive, and informed workplace that upholds dignity, health, and compassion for all.

2. Purpose

This policy aims to:

  • Promote awareness, prevention, and education about HIV and AIDS.
  • Prevent discrimination against staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries living with HIV.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and healthy work environment.
  • Integrate our Christian values of compassion, care, and dignity into HIV response.

3. Scope

This policy applies to:

  • All CKG staff, board members, volunteers, and contracted service providers.
  • All workplaces, program sites, events, and activities run by CKG.
  • All stakeholders, including community members who benefit from CKG services.

4. Principles and Commitments

CKG’s approach is guided by the following:

  • Confidentiality: No person is required to disclose their HIV status unless they choose to.
  • Non-Discrimination: No person living with HIV will be denied employment, promotion, training, or participation in programs.
  • Voluntary Testing: CKG supports voluntary HIV testing and counseling but does not require testing as a condition of employment.
  • Support and Care: CKG will assist staff or volunteers living with HIV to access healthcare, support services, and workplace accommodations when necessary.
  • Awareness and Education: Regular training and awareness sessions will be provided to all staff and volunteers to address stigma and promote accurate information.

5. Workplace Practices

5.1 Health and Safety

  • Standard precautions (universal safety) shall be followed in all work areas, particularly in caregiving or community outreach programs.
  • First aid kits and training will be provided to designated staff.

5.2 Sick Leave and Flexibility

  • Employees living with HIV will be entitled to the same leave and medical benefits as others.
  • Flexible work arrangements may be considered for individuals undergoing treatment, with confidentiality and respect.

5.3 Insurance and Benefits

  • Where applicable, employees living with HIV will have access to medical aid, funeral benefits, and other entitlements without discrimination.

6. Awareness, Training, and Prevention

  • CKG will organize regular workshops and devotionals on HIV/AIDS awareness, biblical compassion, and responsible living.
  • Education will include myth-busting, stigma reduction, safe practices, and understanding transmission.
  • CKG will distribute approved materials (pamphlets, posters) during public events and community programs.

7. Confidentiality and Disclosure

  • Disclosure of HIV status is strictly voluntary.
  • If an employee or volunteer discloses their status, it will be kept confidential and only shared with written consent.
  • Breach of confidentiality will result in disciplinary action.

8. Discrimination and Grievance Procedures

  • Any discrimination, harassment, or mistreatment of a person living with HIV will result in disciplinary action, including possible dismissal.
  • Staff and volunteers may file complaints confidentially with the Project Manager or Board Secretary.

9. Integration with Faith and Mission

CKG believes that people living with HIV are equally loved by God and deserve full dignity, care, and opportunity. We reject any form of stigma or judgment and embrace our calling to be healers and reconcilers.
