1. Purpose of the Policy
This policy outlines CKG’s commitment to:
- Preventing gender-based violence (GBV) in all its forms.
- Supporting survivors with dignity and confidentiality.
- Promoting safety, equality, and justice in all CKG spaces and programs.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All CKG staff, volunteers, leaders, and program beneficiaries.
- All community-based programs, workshops, shelters, and ministry spaces operated by CKG.
3. Definitions
- Gender-Based Violence (GBV): Any harmful act directed at individuals based on their gender. Includes sexual abuse, domestic violence, emotional abuse, coercion, trafficking, and exploitation.
- Survivor: Any person who has experienced GBV, regardless of gender, age, or background.
- Perpetrator: A person who commits or threatens to commit a GBV-related act.
4. CKG Commitments
CKG will:
- Maintain a zero-tolerance policy for GBV.
- Provide immediate support and referral to survivors.
- Promote gender equality and safe environments for women, children, and marginalized individuals.
- Equip staff and volunteers with training on GBV awareness and response.
- Uphold principles of confidentiality, respect, and non-judgment in all cases.
5. Prevention Measures
- Raise community awareness through workshops, sermons, and dialogue rooted in biblical justice and compassion.
- Integrate gender and safety considerations into program design.
- Conduct background checks for anyone working with vulnerable people.
- Educate faith leaders on breaking silence and stigma around GBV.
6. Response Procedures
If GBV is suspected, reported, or witnessed:
- Listen without judgment and believe the survivor.
- Ensure safety – remove the person from danger if possible.
- Report the case to the designated GBV Officer or Project Manager.
- Refer to appropriate external services (police, hospital, social worker).
- Document the incident confidentially.
7. Survivor Support
CKG will:
- Offer counseling, prayer, and trauma-informed support.
- Assist survivors in accessing medical, legal, and social services.
- Ensure survivors are never blamed or shamed.
8. Disciplinary Measures
- Any CKG staff, volunteer, or board member found guilty of GBV or cover-up will be dismissed immediately and reported to legal authorities.
- Allegations will be handled with due process, fairness, and confidentiality.
9. Monitoring and Review
- This policy will be reviewed every 12 months or after any reported incident.
- Feedback from survivors and community partners will be integrated into future updates.
