Constitution of Citizen in the Kingdom of God(CKG)

As Citizens in the Kingdom of God

1. Name

The name of the organization is CKG.

2. Legal Status

CKG is a voluntary, faith-based, non-profit organization. It shall exist independently of its members and shall continue to exist even when its membership changes. It may own property and other assets and may sue or be sued in its own name.

3. Vision

To see individuals and communities in Delft and Engcobo transformed through Christ-centered development and empowered as Citizens in the Kingdom of God.

4. Mission

CKG exists to build capacity, provide care, and empower communities through holistic, faith-based programs that respond to spiritual, social, health, and economic challenges.

5. Objectives and Key Activities

CKG will fulfill its mission through the following activities:

  • Building the capacity of faith leaders and churches to serve their communities.
  • Supporting orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) and at-risk youth.
  • Providing care and support for victims and survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV).
  • Promoting food security and household sustainability through training and support.
  • Addressing community health needs, including HIV and AIDS, TB, and mental health.
  • Empowering youth and women through skills development and economic initiatives.
  • Promoting discipleship, spiritual growth, and a strong sense of identity as Kingdom citizens.

7. Membership

  • Membership shall be open to any individual who supports the vision and mission of CKG and is committed to living as a Citizen in the Kingdom of God.
  • Members must actively participate in organizational meetings and activities.
  • The Board may terminate the membership of anyone whose actions are contrary to the constitution, subject to a fair process.

8. Governance and Structure

8.1 Governing Body – Board of Directors

CKG shall be governed by a Board consisting of at least five (5) members:

  • Chairperson
  • Deputy Chairperson
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Additional Members (1 or more)

8.2 Roles and Responsibilities

The Board shall:

  • Provide spiritual and strategic leadership.
  • Oversee finances, compliance, and program implementation.
  • Meet at least quarterly, with a quorum of 50% plus one.
  • Serve for a term of 3 years, renewable once.

8.3 Management

The Board may appoint a Project Coordinator/Manager or staff to manage daily operations.

9. Meetings

9.1 Annual General Meeting (AGM)

  • Held once per year.
  • Presents audited financial statements and reports on activities.
  • Elects Board members (when needed).

9.2 Special Meetings

May be called with at least 14 days’ written notice by the Chairperson or two Board members.

10. Financial Matters

  • CKG is a non-profit and will not distribute profits to members or Board members.
  • Funds shall be used solely to fulfill the objectives of the organization.
  • Proper financial records shall be kept.
  • A bank account shall be opened in the name of the organization, with at least two signatories.
  • Annual financial statements will be prepared and presented at the AGM.

11. Amendments to the Constitution

  • The constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority of members present at a duly convened AGM or special meeting.
  • Members must receive written notice and a copy of the proposed amendments at least 14 days prior.

12. Dissolution

  • CKG may be dissolved by a two-thirds majority vote at a special meeting.
  • If dissolved, any remaining assets will be transferred to another registered NPO with similar objectives, as agreed upon by the Board and in line with applicable laws.

13. Faith Declaration

CKG affirms that:

“You are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of His household.” – Ephesians 2:19
All our work flows from the belief that every individual is a Citizen in the Kingdom of God, with a purpose to fulfill and a community to serve.
