Who We Are
CKG Mums with Special Needs is an initiative under CKG dedicated to supporting mothers and primary caregivers of children with special needs. We provide emotional, practical, and educational support to empower mothers to raise their children with confidence, resilience, and dignity.
Our services are tailored to the unique needs of mothers caring for children with various disabilities, including developmental delays, intellectual disabilities, physical challenges, and emotional or behavioral disorders.
Our Services
1. 🌱 Capacity Building & Training Programs
We run structured training workshops designed to educate, empower, and equip mothers with tools to:
- Understand different types of special needs
- Learn caregiving best practices
- Advocate for their child’s rights and education
- Access available social and health services
- Build personal and emotional resilience
Duration: 6–8 week programs | Format: In-person & hybrid
2. 🤝 Support Groups and Peer Mentorship
We facilitate regular peer support groups, providing safe spaces for mothers to:
- Share their journeys
- Learn from each other’s experiences
- Build lifelong friendships and support networks
Frequency: Monthly in-person & online sessions
Special Feature: Peer-to-peer mentorship pairing
3. 🧠 Counseling & Mental Health Support
Caregiving can be emotionally draining. We offer:
- One-on-one counseling (virtual & in-person)
- Trauma-informed group therapy
- Stress management and self-care workshops
Facilitated by: Qualified social workers and therapists
4. 📚 Parent Coaching & Special Needs Education
We offer individual and group coaching for mothers to:
- Navigate inclusive education and IEPs
- Engage with schools and therapists
- Learn effective parenting techniques tailored to their child’s condition
Includes: Sign language basics, positive discipline, sensory integration guidance
5. 💼 Economic Empowerment Support
Recognizing the financial pressure many mothers face, we offer:
- Vocational training and skills development
- Micro-business starter packs
- Access to grants and microfinance training
Optional add-on: Entrepreneurship coaching for home-based business ideas
6. 🛠️ Resource Navigation and Referral Services
We help mothers connect with:
- Government social services (SASSA, Department of Health, etc.)
- Special schools and inclusive education centers
- Therapy services (speech, occupational, behavioral)
- Legal aid and disability rights organizations
7. 🧩 Awareness and Advocacy Campaigns
We lead and support advocacy initiatives to:
