SaPro CEO Neftaly Malatjie Highlights Youth Empowerment Through Skills Development at SayPro Capacity Building Training for NPOs

Southern Africa Youth Project Headquarters, 24–26 June 2025

At the recently concluded SayPro Capacity Building Training for NPOs, held from 24 to 26 June 2025 at the Southern Africa Youth Project headquarters, SaPro CEO and Development Leader Neftaly Malatjie delivered a strong message on youth empowerment and the purpose of skills training.

Speaking to nonprofit leaders and community-based organizations attending the three-day training, Malatjie stated:
“We give the youth skills to help themselves so that when they get jobs, they can be able to implement what they have learned from us.”

This message reinforced SayPro’s long-standing commitment to practical, job-ready skills development as a pathway to employment and long-term independence for young people across Southern Africa.

Bridging Skills with Opportunity

The SayPro Capacity Building Programme is designed to equip nonprofit organizations with the knowledge and tools they need to function effectively and remain compliant with legal standards. However, it also aims to ensure that NPOs serve as platforms for sustainable youth development.

Malatjie’s comments reflect the organization’s dual focus—strengthening civil society structures while empowering youth with the competencies they need to thrive in the workforce.

“It’s not just about offering training for the sake of it. We focus on real-world skills—things young people can use to change their circumstances,” Malatjie explained.

A Holistic Approach to Community Development

Throughout the event, participants engaged in practical workshops on governance, compliance with the NPO Act, financial sustainability, leadership, and youth-focused programming. SaPro highlighted how effective NPOs can become engines for community transformation when they prioritize skills development and implementation.

One of the youth participants shared, “Before SayPro, I had no idea how to even approach a job interview. Now I’ve got skills in digital literacy, communication, and even budgeting. This programme changed my life.”

Building the Future, One Skill at a Time

As the event closed, Malatjie encouraged all organizations to focus on impact-driven programming:
“If we want to solve unemployment, we must prepare youth not only to look for jobs but to be ready to perform when those opportunities come.”
