SaPro CEO Neftaly Malatjie Emphasizes Compliance with NPO Law at SayPro Capacity Building Training for NPOs

Southern Africa Youth Project Headquarters, 24–26 June 2025

In a powerful opening address during the SayPro Capacity Building Training for NPOs, held from 24 to 26 June 2025 at the Southern Africa Youth Project headquarters, SaPro CEO Neftaly Malatjie emphasized a critical message to all nonprofit organizations: “Make sure you follow the NPO law and the govern.”

The three-day training brought together nonprofit professionals, youth leaders, and community development stakeholders from across Southern Africa to strengthen the capacity of NPOs in governance, compliance, leadership, and service delivery. With the evolving legal and operational landscape facing civil society organizations, SayPro’s initiative was both timely and impactful.

A Clear Message on Compliance

In his keynote, Malatjie stressed the importance of ethical governance and legal compliance. “Too many organizations collapse not because they lack resources, but because they fail to follow basic governance rules,” he said. “Make sure you follow the NPO law and the govern,” he urged participants, highlighting the role of transparent management and accountability in building public trust and securing funding.

Malatjie’s statement reflects the growing call for stricter adherence to South Africa’s NPO Act and government regulations, especially as donor agencies and government departments demand greater transparency and efficiency in nonprofit operations.

Equipping NPOs for Impact

The SayPro Capacity Building Programme offered practical sessions on:

  • NPO registration and legal obligations
  • Financial management and auditing
  • Board governance and leadership
  • Monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
  • Resource mobilization and stakeholder engagement

Facilitated by experts in nonprofit law, finance, and community development, the training aimed to empower small and medium-sized NPOs to become more sustainable and impactful.

Strengthening Civil Society

“This training is not just about compliance; it’s about building organizations that can truly serve communities,” said a participant from a youth development NGO in Limpopo. Another attendee praised the hands-on approach and opportunities to network with like-minded leaders.

SayPro CEO Neftaly Malatjie concluded the event with a call to action: “Let’s lead by example. Let’s build organizations that serve with integrity, passion, and professionalism.”
